Why Choose Acupuncture?

Chinese Medicine, which incorporates acupuncture, is holistic & uses a unique system of diagnosis that allows us to see patterns of health within the body that other forms of medicine often cannot. These patterns not only can affect an organ or region of the body. Rather, it can affect the whole body, including emotions.

Acupuncture treats the entire system. This provides a more complete treatment. It also assists in preventing a re-occurrence of a condition.

What is involved?

Acupuncture involves the insertion of fine, sterile needles into specific points on the body. Acupuncture can offer treatment for almost every disorder. These points are strong areas of influence along a channel which relate to internal organs & the areas of the body which they control. Inserting needles into these points helps unblock any stagnation or congestion within the body. In this way, it can result in powerful immune, hormonal, nervous & anti-inflammatory responses. This allows conditions of pain, disease, stress, injury & trauma to be treated effectively without the side effects commonly associated with medication.

An experienced practitioner gauges important information from a client through carefully asked questions. They also keenly observe the human body and can pull together substantial information from the eyes, tongue and pallor of the skin.

Moxibustion Technique

Another part of our acupuncture sessions includes the use of Moxibustion. Moxibustion involves burning moxa, which is a cone or stick made of dried mugwort leaves, on the body’s acupuncture points along specific meridians.

Practitioners believe that the the moxa generates a deep heat. This helps stimulate the acupuncture points and helps to unblock stagnation within the body. As a result, this improves the flow of qi (energy) throughout the body.
